Adjournment in contemplation of dismissal
An Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal (or ACD) is a procedure in Criminal Law whereby a judge or other judicial official halts proceedings in a matter (most often a misdemeanor or traffic infraction) on the understanding it will be dismissed in a certain amount of time.
