Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (1912-January 15, 1966) was the first prime minister of an independent Nigeria. Born a commoner in the north of colonial Nigeria, he trained as a teacher, continuing his education at London University from 1944 to 1946.
