AbuUbaida ibn al-Jarrah



Abu 'Ubayda Amir ibn Abdullah ibn al-Jarrah (Amir, the father of Ubayda, the son of Abdullah who was the son of Jarrah) (died 639 CE), called the "soldier of Islam and guardian of the ummah (Islamic community)", was the conqueror of Syria in the first expansion of Islam, one of the Ten Believers who were promised paradise by the prophet Muhammad for their steadfastness. He was a follower of Muhammad, who fought for him in the battle of Uhad.
