Affirmation of Marriage Act (Virginia)
Virginia's Affirmation of Marriage Act dates from 1997, and prohibits marriage between same-sex couples in that state. On 1 July 2005, in accordance with House Bill 751, the Act was modified so as to further prohibit civil unions and domestic partnerships between persons of the same sex.
