A Yank in the RAF
A black and white 1941 movie directed by Henry King, A Yank in the RAF is considered a typical (that is, not quite subtle) early-World War II movie. Though it came out in September 1941, months before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the movie features an American pilot (Tyrone Power) who joins the Royal Air Force -- not to defend a noble cause but merely to impress a former girlfriend (Betty Grable).
