Absolute war
The concept of absolute war was a philosophical construct developed by the military theorist General Carl von Clausewitz and features in the first half of the first chapter of his book On War. After this, Clausewitz explains that absolute war is practically impossible because it is directed by politics and society, and thus he names war with these additional moderating influences as real war.
