Battle of Lissa (1811)
The naval Battle of Lissa (1811) was fought near the island of Lissa (modern name Vis) in the Adriatic Sea. A mixed flotilla of French and Venetian frigates commanded by Commodore Dubordieu, together with troops and transports approached the island with a view to invading and occupying it.
