Battle of Bassorah
The Battle of Bassorah, Battle of the Camel, or Battle of Jamal was a battle that took place at Basra, Iraq in 656 between forces allied to Ali (Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law) and the superior forces of rebel Arabs allied to Aisha (a previous wife of Muhammad, and now his widow) who wanted justice for the perpotrators of the assassanation of the previous caliph Uthmaan.
