De () is a key concept in Chinese philosophy, usually translated "inherent character; inner power; integrity" in Daoism, "moral character; virtue; morality" in Confucianism and other contexts, and "quality; virtue" (guna) or "merit; virtuous deeds" (punya) in Chinese Buddhism.
