DD51 diesel locomotive



642 B-2-B wheel arrangement DD51 class diesel-hydraulic locomotives were built between 1962 and 1977 by Kawasaki, Hitachi, and Mitsubishi. Despite this number, it is not quite the most numerous diesel type manufactured; that accolade goes to the DE10 class, with a total of 707 locos built for branch line and shunting use.
