Depression storage capacity Depression storage capacity, in soil science, is the ability of a particular area of land to retain water in its pits and depressions, thus preventing it from flowing away. Depth of field In optics, particularly film and photography, the depth of field (DOF) is the distance in front of and beyond the subject that appears to be in focus. There is only one distance at which a subject is precisely in focus, but focus falls off gradually on either side of that distance, and there is a region in which the blurring is imperceptible under normal viewing conditions.
Depth-first search Depth-first search (DFS) is an algorithm for traversing or searching a tree, tree structure, or graph. Intuitively, one starts at the root (selecting some node as the root in the graph case) and explores as far as possible along each branch before backtracking.
Depth-limited search In computer science depth-limited search is an algorithm to explore the vertices of a graph. It is a modification of depth-first search and is used for example in the iterative deepening depth-first search algorithm.
Depth-of-field adapter A shallow DOF adapter is used in conjunction with digital video camcorders to achieve optical film-like shallow depth of field with manual- or auto-focus lenses on a camera whose CCD size is not adequate enough to achieve it natively. A DOF adapter could theoretically be used on a multitude of platforms, although it is most useful on prosumer cameras like the Canon XL H1 where high resolution is a capability but the CCD size is still small enough to elicit use of the adapter.
Depurination Depurination is DNA alteration in which the hydrolysis of a purine base (Adenine or Guanine) from the deoxyribose-phosphate backbone occurs. After a depurination, the sugar phosphate backbone remains and the sugar ring has a hydroxyl (-OH) group in the place of the Adenine or Guanine.

Der Tunnel Der Tunnel (English: The Tunnel) is a 2001 film by German director Roland Suso Richter that is loosely based on a true story about an expanding group of people led by Hasso Herschel (Harry Melchior in the movie), who dug a tunnel under the Berlin Wall in the early 1960's to get friends and family from East Germany to West Germany. Dozens of such tunnels have been dug, but this one became known because, in order to get financial support, the group decided to let US broadcasting company NBC film them for a documentary.
