El Tovar Hotel
The El Tovar Hotel is a former "Harvey House" situated just 20Â ft (6Â m) from the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The hotel was designed by Charles Whittlesey, Chief Architect for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway, and was decorated by architect Mary Colter, opened in 1905 as one the chain of hotels and restaurants owned and operated by the Fred Harvey Company in conjunction with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (Santa Fe).
