East Hebei Autonomous Council
On November 15, 1935 the Chinese administrator of the eastern district of the demilitarized zone in Hopei, Yin Ju-keng, asked autonomy for North China, as part of a Japanese inspired autonomy movement. On November 24, 1935, Yin Ju-keng, declared the independÂence of the district for administration under the East Ji (Hopei or Hebei) Anti‑Communist Autonomous Council or East Hebei Autonomous Council with its capital at Tungchow.
