Ekdromoi
The Ekdromos (plural Ekdromoi) was the name of the Greek light hoplites. Their name means 'out-runners', because they were lightly armoured (with hoplon and bronze helmet), fast infantry against the northern Barbarians (Thracians, Illyrians, or Scythians).
