Feast of San Gennaro
The Feast of San Gennaro, originally a one-day religious commemoration, is now an 11-day street fair held in mid-September in the Little Italy area of Manhattan. Its advocates celebrate it as an annual celebration of Italian culture and the Italian-American community, though residents of the area have criticized the festival for the effect that the noise, garbage and crowds generated by the festival have on the quality in the area.
