Gelugor



Gelugor (named after a type of Tamarind, "Asam Gelugor", also known to the local Hokkien Chinese as "Gu-Lu-Gok") is a town located at the southern part of Georgetown, Penang, a midway town between Georgetown, Penang and Sungai Dua. It is made up of several residential and commercial areas, namely Island Glades, Island Park, Minden Heights, Kampung Kastam (Custom Village), Taman Tun Sardon, Bukit Gambir (sometimes spelt "Gambier"), Bukit Gelugor, and Sungai Gelugor (famed for having the oldest Malay school in Malaysia).
