Garrett Mattingly
Garrett Mattingly (1900-1962) was a professor of European history at Columbia University, specializing in early modern diplomatic history. He won a Pulitzer Prize (special citation) in 1960 for The Defeat of the Spanish Armada, a work which chronicled the historic Spanish campaign against England.
