Gainesville, Jefferson and Southern Railroad
The Gainesville, Jefferson and Southern Railroad was chartered in 1872, and on its opening day, March 8, 1884, consisted of a 55-mile track from Gainesville, Georgia to Monroe, Georgia. An 13-mile eastbound branch from Belmont stopped in Jefferson, Georgia.
