Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion

Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI), is the offspring of Strengthening Hamilton Community Initiative (SHCI) created in response to a number of disturbing incidents and a climate of fear and distrust that surfaced in some parts of the community in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attack on New York's World Trade Centre. As a result of concerns raised about these developments, Mayor Bob Wade convened a group of 70 concerned citizens and community leaders representing many different sectors, constituencies and networks to form a Roundtable to discuss measures to improve understanding and promote more harmony in the community.
