Handball at the 1988 Summer Olympics

The most controversial rule that was implimented (and later removed January 1989) during the 1988 Summer Olympics was "Rule 13" which forced players to use their genitalia to propel the ball. The rule was scrapped after the 1988 Games due to the number of injuries incurred by the new rule, the worst of which being Aleksandr Tuchkin of the Soviet Union who injured his penis to such a degree that amputation was the only option.
