Most of the piano pieces known by the generic title Harmonies poétiques et religieuses (Poetic and Religious Harmonies) were composed at Woronince (Voronyntsi, Ukrainian country estate of Liszt’s mistress Princess Jeanne Elisabeth Carolyne von Sayn-Wittgenstein, née Iwanowska) in 1847.
