Illinois 10th congressional district election, 2006

— Although reliably Republican in past elections, this district located in the northern suburbs of Chicago in Cook and Lake counties, along Lake Michigan, voted for John Kerry and Barack Obama in 2004, which may make re-election in 2008 a challenge for Republican incumbent Mark Kirk. Kirk is the head of the Moderate Republican caucus.
