Idle task
In computing, an idle task is a task given the lowest priority which is loaded by the OS scheduler when there is nothing for the computer to do (No tasks in the state of "running"). The idle task can be part of the scheduler, or a separate task, like the Windows NT System idle process, visible in system status programs.
