In a Station of the Metro

Ezra Pound’s ‘In a Station of the Metro’, first published in 1913 is considered one of the leading poems of the Imagist tradition. Written in a Japanese haiku style, Pound’s process of deletion from thirty lines to only twenty words typifies Imagism’s focus on economy of language, precision of imagery and experimenting with non-traditional verse forms.
