The Instituto HistĂłrico da Ilha Terceira (IHIT, Portuguese meaning the Terceira Island Historic Institute) is a cultural association of private nature, dedicated on investigation and studying the , it organizes as an academy. The institute was founded in 1942 by the city of Angra do HeroĂsmo.
