Indie pop
Indie pop is a musical genre that originated in the UK in the mid 80s. Although its roots were in the Scottish post-punk bands on the Postcard label in the early 80s such as Orange Juice, it didn't find a name until the release of C86, the influential NME cassette of the period that featured such key early bands of the genre such as The Pastels, and The Shop Assistants.
