Immigration to Australia

Immigration to Australia began at least 40,000 years ago, when the ancestors of Australian Aborigines arrived via the islands of the Malay Archipelago and New Guinea. Europeans began landing in the 1600s and 1700s, and the country was colonised by Great Britain in 1788.
