Independence Day (novel)

Independence Day, a 1995 novel by Richard Ford, won the Pulitzer Prize and PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction in 1996, the first novel ever to win both awards in a single year. A sequel to Ford's well-regarded novel, The Sportswriter (1986), Independence Day nonetheless stands alone and is often considered a more mature and important work.
