Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition
The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition was the fourth British Antarctic exploration of the 20th century, and aimed, but ultimately failed, to be the first to cross the Antarctic continent from one side to the other.It was another 50 years before this feat was successfully accomplished on the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1958.
