James Delaney (Laois)
James Delaney was a fugitive from the crown who died in the Slieve Bloom mountains while on the run for the murder of a landlords agent Richard Ely, of Ballaghmore Castle on November 8, 1858. He reportedly escaped from the police after a ball of woll was thrown out a window to alert him when he called down for food from the caves in the mountainside where he was hiding in the townland of Rossabawn.
