Jean Boese
Elsie Jean McGivney "Jeannie" Boese (pronounced BOW-ZEE, January 19, 1925 -- April 7, 2004) was Louisiana's poet laureate from 1972-1980, and from 1996 until her death. She was the Republican national committeewoman from Louisiana from 1968-1974.
