Jean-Pierre Élissalde

Jean-Pierre Élissalde (born December 31, 1953 in La Rochelle) was a French rugby union player at scrum half and in 2005 was appointed the first foreign head coach of the Japan national rugby union team. He was sacked by the JRFU in September 2006 after he found another job in France with Aviron Bayonnais and refused to give it up when asked to do so by the JRFU who wanted him to concentrate 100% on the Japan job.
