Jacques Castérède



Jacques Castérède was born in Paris in 1926, and gained his baccaluareat in elementary mathematics, before going on to the Paris Conservatoire, where he was to win prizes in piano, chamber music, harmony, composition (with Tony Aubin), analysis and aesthetics in music (with Olivier Messiaen). Having won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1953, he then spent four years in the Villa Medici before taking up a post at the Paris Conservatoire in 1960, where he taught musical training for singers, musical analysis and composition.
