Jeannette Piccard



Jeannette Ridlon Piccard (5 January, 1895 – 17 May, 1981) was an American aviator who pioneered balloon flight, a teacher, scientist and priest. A member of the famed Piccard family of balloonists and the International Space Hall of Fame, she was the first licensed female balloon pilot, the first woman to fly to the stratosphere, and a consultant for NASA.
