James (name)
James is a given name. It is the most popular name for a male in the United States according to the 1990 U.S. Census. It is derived from the same Hebrew] name as [[Jacob, meaning "grasps by the heel" or "supplanter," probably in a deceiving way (in the Bible Jacob was born grasping Esau's heel and later bought his birthright).
