Jean Françaix



Jean René Désiré Françaix (May 23, 1912, Le Mans – September 25 1997, Paris) was a French neoclassical composer, pianist, and orchestrator, known for his prolific output and vibrant style. (According to the composer's son, Jacques Francaix, who is the site master of the composer's website, the composer's name is pronounced "France-EH, to rhyme with "paix," NOT "France-AIX to rhyme with SEX, as some pronouncing guides would have it.
