Jemaah Islamiyah
Jemaah Islamiyah, sometimes rendered Jemaah Islamiah or Jemiah Islamiyah, is a Southeast Asian militant Islamic organization dedicated to the establishment of a fundamentalist Islamic theocracy in Southeast Asia, in particular Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, and the south of Thailand and the Philippines. "Jemaah Islamiyah" is an Arabic phrase meaning "Islamic Group" or "Islamic Community," and is often abbreviated JI.
