James Creighton (hockey)
James George Alywin Creighton (Born: 1850 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada - Died: 1930) was one the men originally responsible for the early popularization of ice hockey. Creighton developed the game from a similar game known as shinney in Halifax, where (according to some historians) it was developed out of an Irish game called hurley.
