Japanese River Otter
The Japanese river otter (Lutra lutra whiteleyi; Japanese: 日本獺, 日本川獺 nihonkawauso or nipponkawauso) is a variety of otter formerly widespread in Japan. The last official sighting of one was in the southern part of Kochi Prefecture in 1979, and it may already be extinct.
