Kanûn-ı Esâsî
The KanĂ»n-ı EsâsĂ® (قانŮن اساسى) was the first constitution of the Ottoman Empire. Meaning "basic law" in Ottoman Turkish, it was written by members of the Young Ottomans, particularly Ahmed Ĺžefik Midhat Pasha, during the reign of Sultan AbdĂĽlhamid II (1876–1909).
