Kanun (Instrument)
The qanún or kanun (Arabic qânûn, from Greek κανων 'measuring rod; rule' akin to καννα 'cane') is a string instrument found in Near Eastern traditional music based on Maqamat. It is basically a zither with a narrow trapezoidal soundboard.
