Karl Plagge
Major Karl Plagge (July 10, 1897, in Darmstadt–July 1957 in Darmstadt) was a German officer and Nazi Party member who during World War II employed some 1,200 Jews—500 men, and the rest women and children—for forced labor, thus preventing many of them from being killed at Paneriai (Ponary), the site of mass-execution grounds outside Nazi-occupied Vilnius, Lithuania, or in Nazi extermination camps.
