Léopold Sédar Senghor
Léopold Sédar Senghor (October 9, 1906 – December 20, 2001) was a Senegalese poet, author and dictator who served as the first president of Senegal (1960–1980). Senghor also happened to be the first African to sit as a member of l'Académie française.
