LMS 3-Cylindered Stanier 2-6-4T LMS 3-Cylindered Stanier 2-6-4T is a class of steam locomotive designed for work over the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. All 2500-36 were built in 1934 at Derby Works, but from 1935 the LMS switched to constructing a very similar, simpler, 2-cylindered design.
LMS diesel shunter 1831 This was the original experimental shunter, nominally rebuilt by the Midland Railway's Derby Works from a 1377 Class 0-6-0T steam locomotive originally built in September 1892 by the Vulcan Foundry, whose number it inherited (1831), though very little of the steam locomotive was actually re-used. Of itself, it was not very successful, but it did provide useful data for the further development of the diesel shunter design.

LMS Stanier Class 8F The London Midland and Scottish Railway's 8F class 2-8-0 heavy freight locomotive is a class of steam locomotive designed for hauling heavy freight. 852 were built between 1935 and 1946 as a freight version of William Stanier's successful black five, and the class saw service overseas during the Second World War.

They were some of the most powerful freight locotives ever designed in Britain, and it was initially intended they be a more powerful 2-10-0 version of the earlier Class O2 2-8-0s.
LNER Class U1 The London and North Eastern Railway Class U1 was a solitary 2-8-0+0-8-2 Beyer-Garratt locomotive designed for banking coal trains over the Worsborough Bank, a steeply graded line in South Yorkshire and part of the Woodhead Route. The locomotive was fitted with crew respirators due to the poor ventilation in the two tunnels on the bank.
LNER Class V1/V3 The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class V1 and Class V3 were two classes of related 2-6-2T steam locomotive. The V3 was a development of the V1 with increased boiler pressure and resultant increased tractive effort, and many V1s were rebuilt into V3s.

LNER Peppercorn Class A1 The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Peppercorn Class A1 was a class of steam locomotives. 49 were built to the design of Arthur Peppercorn (who was the last Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) of the London and North Eastern Railway) during the early British Railways era, but none survived.

Load bank A load bank is a device which develops an electrical load, applies the load to an electrical power source and converts or dissipates, the resultant power output of the source. A Load Bank is intended to accurately mimic the operational or “real” load which a power source will see in actual application.
Load bearing boss A load bearing boss is a term referring to the phenomenon in video games (typically RPGs but it can happen in other genres as well) in which the defeat of a powerful opponent (or boss) directly results in the destruction of the area in which the battle took place. For example, in the Castlevania series, the defeat of Dracula results in the destruction of Dracula's Castle.

Loader (computing) In computing, a loader is a program that performs the functions of a linker program and then immediately schedules the resulting executable program for action (in the form of a memory image), without necessarily saving the program as an executable file. In Unix, the so-called linking loader also gets called again during program execution to perform runtime binding (linking) for dynamic libraries[programs are useful for prototyping], testing, and one-off applications.
Loading bay (theatre) A loading bay is a room in a theater which is usually quite large. It generally has a bay door (a large metal door which rolls up, at least the size of the opening on a standard semi-trailer) at opposite sides of the room, one for a truck and the other for access to the stage.
Loading coil In electronics, a loading coil is a coil (inductor) that does not provide coupling to any other circuit, but is inserted in a circuit to increase its inductance. The need was discovered by Oliver Heaviside in studying the disappointing slow speed of the Transatlantic telegraph cable.
Loading gauge A loading gauge is the envelope or contoured shape within which all railroad cars, locomotives, coaches, buses, trucks and other vehicles, must fit.
