La Cantuta massacre
The La Cantuta massacre, in which a university professor and nine students from Lima's La Cantuta University were abducted and "disappeared" by a military death squad, took place in Peru on 18 July 1992 during the presidency of Alberto Fujimori. The incident is notable not only for the violations of human rights that it entailed, but for the impunity subsequently enjoyed by its perpetrators.
