L'Ă©minence grise
An éminence grise (French for "grey eminence") is a powerful advisor or decision-maker who operates secretly or unofficially. This phrase originally referred to François Leclerc du Tremblay the right-hand man of Cardinal Richelieu the Red Eminence.
