Lars Hollmer

Lars Gustav Gabriel Hollmer, born 1948, is a Swedish musician (primarily accordion and other keyboards) and composer whose work has drawn on influences from Nordic folk tunes to progressive rock. Early work in the late 1960s-early 1970s with the band Samla Mammas Manna was considered progressive rock (even in 2002, a re-formed Samla Mammas Manna played a two-day festival called Progfest in North Carolina), but he is most centrally an empathetic and generous collaborator; whether as a member of Accordion Tribe, working with the experimental guitarist Fred Frith, or spending several months with Japanese jazz players, he seems to find a style that brings his partners to the fore while remaining identifiably Hollmer.
