Marie-Marguerite d'Youville



Saint Marie-Marguerite d'Youville (née Marie-Marguerite Dufrost de Lajemmerais) (October 15, 1701 – December 23, 1771) was born at Varennes, near Montreal, Canada. She was the first native Canadian to be elevated to sainthood by the Catholic Church, having been beatified by Pope John XXIII in 1959 and canonized in 1990.
