Magadha
Magadha (मगध) formed one of the sixteen so-called MahÄjanapadas (Sanskrit, 'great country') or regions in ancient India. The core of the kingdom was the portion of Bihar lying south of the Ganges, with its capital at Rajagriha (modern Rajgir).
