Makutu



Mākutu is a New Zealand Māori word meaning witchcraft, sorcery, to bewitch; also a spell or incantation. The word apparently does not occur in other Polynesian languages apart from from the possible exception of Niuean, where makutu means 'diligent, industrious, earnest'.
